Sun Tai Chi Institute of Boston

Welcome to the Sun Tai Chi Institute of Boston!

We are a school of Sun style tai chi chuan (taijiquan), a Chinese martial art whose slow, gentle, relaxed movements can have a profound effect on the human condition.

With roots in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Eastern philosophy, taijiquan seeks to generate and circulate qi, or internal energy, throughout the body. The end result can be vigorous health, long life, mental focus, emotional calm and spiritual tranquility.

Not just for the fit and able-bodied, taijiquan is also famous for its healing applications. Medical research suggests taijiquan may have therapeutic benefits for:

  • Cardiovascular disease
  • Balance disorders
  • Low bone density
  • Arthritis/rheumatoid arthritis/osteoarthritis
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Stress
  • High blood pressure
  • Attention deficit disorders
  • Sleep ailments
  • Depression

If you're ready to make a quantum shift and gain a new perspective on life, join us today.

The best way to stay abreast of news and events at the Sun Tai Chi Institute of Boston is to follow the blog on this website, or hook up with us on Twitter or Facebook. You can also subscribe to our monthly email newsletter via the button at the top of the left-hand navigation.

A note on spelling: this website uses the modern pinyin system of Romanizing Chinese words. Pinyin is more phonetically accurate and is a departure from the old Wade-Giles system of Romanization. So instead of the old spelling, "tai chi chuan," we will use "taijiquan" throughout the site. (However, "Tai Chi" is still preserved in the name of the school as a nod to the Wade-Giles spelling, which is so ubiquitous and well-known.)

Another website note: somewhere on this site is an Easter Egg of our favorite martial arts movies. See if you can find it!
